While we were in North Carolina my friend April and I decided to have a backyard baby photo shoot ( I was psyched that she wanted to partake because shes an amazing photographer). We had to endure swarms of flys and a baby meltdown but we still managed to get a few great shots.

Expecting Models
While I was pregnant I signed with the New York based modeling agency, Expecting Models. They represent pregnant gals and new moms. I was so lucky as to get to work with some great maternity clothing lines as well as Parent Magazine, American Baby and the Bump Magazine. If you are looking for maternity clothes these are some great lines to check out.

One Yummy Summer Salad
The only downfall of having a late spring baby is that you very little time to get prepared to be in a bathing suit. In addition to shopping for a one piece bathing suit I have been trying to stick to a healthy diet and this has been my go-to salad lately.
Quinoa Salad
Combine quinoa and broth in a shallow sauce pan, bring to a boil & then reduce to a simmer. Allow to cook with the lid on until the quinoa has absorbed all of the broth. Allow quinoa to cook completely and then add the remaining ingredients. Serve salad on a bed of spinach.
This is a super healthy and light salad for the summer. Last night I topped it with some grilled shrimp and it was delicious. Enjoy!
Quinoa Salad
- 1 cup quinoa
- 2 cups of vegetable stock
- 1 can of artichoke hearts
- 1 cup of cherry tomatoes, quartered
- 1/2 cup of crumbled feta cheese
- 1 green pepper, chopped
- 1 cucumber, chopped
- 1 bag of baby spinach
- 1/4 cup of fresh herbs, chopped (I used basil and oregano)
- salt and pepper to taste

Scarlet Begonia's
Twenty-five years ago when I was born my dad planted a tree in the front yard of the house that my parents brought me home to. The Mister and I decided we wanted to do the same thing to honor the day that our sweet girl was born. We wanted something that could grow with her and every year we could look at this plant and think about the day that we brought her home. We felt it was only appropriate to plant Scarlet Begonia's. We ordered some bulbs from California (since they are not typically grown in New England) and planted three of them. Hopefully next year we will have something like this:

Miss Scarlett
Three weeks ago I looked like this
And now I have this
I've waited my whole life for this moment
She has reminded me how good God really is.
May 12th our sweet baby girl made her way into our lives. That day our lives changed forever, and well, we like it. Over the last few weeks Scarlett has already seen so much, this is a place for us to share our experience as parents and all of the other fun things we get ourselves in to.
